About AIBE Previous Year Question Papers

The All India Bar Examination (AIBE) is conducted by the Bar Council of India (BCI) for law graduates seeking a Certificate of Practice. Since AIBE is an open-book exam, knowing how to quickly navigate your bare acts is far more important than rote memorisation. Legistro's previous year paper collection helps you practise exactly that skill.

Each paper on this page contains all 100 multiple-choice questions from the official AIBE question paper, with the verified correct answer and a step-by-step guide showing exactly which page of which bare act to open, which section to read, and why that answer is correct.

How to Use These Papers for AIBE Preparation

Step 1 — Browse a paper: Pick the most recent edition (AIBE XX or XIX) and work through each question with your bare acts open beside you.

Step 2 — Use the walkthrough: Every question has a "How to Find in Bare Act" section. Follow it in real time to build navigation speed.

Step 3 — Take a mock test: Once comfortable, attempt the paper under timed exam conditions using our free mock test feature.

Step 4 — Repeat older papers: Cover at least 3 previous editions. Questions on key sections (IPC/BNS, CPC, Evidence Act/BSA) repeat across editions.

Frequently Asked Questions — AIBE Previous Year Papers

Where can I find AIBE previous year question papers with answers?
Right here on Legistro. We have all AIBE editions from AIBE III to AIBE XX with correct answers and detailed bare act walkthroughs — completely free, no download required.
Is AIBE an open-book exam?
Yes. AIBE is a fully open-book examination. Candidates can carry their bare acts (printed, unannotated) into the exam hall. The key skill is navigating the acts quickly, not memorising them.
How many questions are there in AIBE?
Every edition of AIBE contains 100 multiple-choice questions (MCQs) carrying 1 mark each. The passing mark is 45% (general category) and 40% (SC/ST). Duration is 3.5 hours.
Which AIBE papers are most important to study?
Focus on the last 3–4 editions (AIBE XVII, XVIII, XIX, XX). The syllabus and question pattern are consistent, and questions on core acts like CPC, IPC/BNS, CrPC/BNSS, Evidence Act, and Contract Act repeat frequently.
Can I use these papers for AIBE XXI preparation?
Yes. The AIBE syllabus is largely stable. Note that from AIBE XXI, the new criminal laws (BNS, BNSS, BSA) replace IPC, CrPC, and the Evidence Act. Legistro includes mapping of old to new sections in every relevant question.
Is there a PDF download for AIBE previous year papers?
Legistro provides all questions online with answers and explanations — no PDF download needed. You can browse any question and practice from any device for free.
